National Write Your Story Day.

Writing is little like running, we once heard, in that it is arduous and effort and hard work and pain and at the end, you finally sit down, and… ahhh. It feels good to have run, it feels good to have written. Admittedly this pearl of writing wisdom grated on the first read, as writing wisdom is wont to do. But on reflection, it is not without some merit. Writing is perhaps unique amongst the arts in that the act of doing so is just so strenuous, and such an effort of the will, and that time spent writing is marked more often by the time spent not writing. This is time spent looking out the window, making teas, and browsing the internet. Well, #writerblr, today is your un/lucky day (delete as appropriate) because today just so happens to be March 14, 2023: National Write Your Story Day!

And where better place to start than here on Tumblr? Or at #writerblr, to be precise. There is a community of thousands who, like you, are enraptured with the gift that is creating a story. It is a community awash with writing prompts, short stories, analysis and discourse, and some unique perspectives to help you engage with that most elusive of activities: storytelling. If nothing else, there’s a mass of fellow writers in whom to find solidarity in procrastination.
